JAPAN WINE CHALLENGE 2014
Eguren Ugarte wins another prize at the Japan Wine Challenge 2014, the most important competition in Japanese wine market. The wine Ugarte Cosecha 2012 has achieved the bronze medal, an award that also won in the 2013 edition with the 2011 vintage. Therefore, this red wine made by the Eguren family made with tempranillo and garnacha grapes repeats prize.
A jury of 11 experts, chaired by the Master of Wine Lynne Sherriff, evaluated over a thousand wines from around the world presented to Japan Wine Challange Awards in its 17th edition.
Only three wineries in Rioja have obtained a medal: the winery Eguren Ugarte, Olarra (Ursa Maior) and Pagos del Rey (Castillo de Albai).
Eguren Ugarte has a presence in Asia since a long time ago. Just over two years ago strengthened its presence in this market with the opening of an office in China. The winery of Eguren Family currently exports 60% of its wines and Asia is its third destination in international sales, after USA and Germany. This commitment to internationalization has earned the recognition from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Alava with the delivery of the Internationalization Award given annually.
